love it! The red shirt should at least be glad he didn't have to found Wraith Squadron and pretend to be Lt. Kettch(an ewok pilot made up) in a battle while being razzed by Wes Janson for over three decades!

There's a very good reason.

Wedge, despite being a minor character, survives every single movie. He's actually right there in the final scene. Considering most other fighter pilots in the series have a life-span of twenty seconds OR happen to be main characters, he's an oddity.

Red-Shirts from Star Trek, on the other hand, are doomed to die. All of them. Heck, Scotty died once, and he's one of the main characters. But he was a red-shirt, so he died. He did get better, obviously.

When did Scotty die? Heck he was alive when Kirk was sucked into the Nexus, and was let roam on a shuttle donated to him by the Enterprise-D.
