Wedge Antilles started his life as a Star Wars charecter as one of the x wing pilots at the battle of the first Death Star and is the only surviving pilot mentioned by name in the.movie other than Luke Han and Chewie. He has become a large and important charecter in the expanded fiction. He is the god of red shirts
*LOL* Love this joke... on an additional side note. While Wedge does somehow survive all three original movies (andto my knowledgethe follow on books), he was slated to die in each movie. Originally, he wasn't suppose to survive the 1st Death Star in ANH. Then he wasn't suppose to survive the Battle of Hoth in ESB. And then finally, he wasn't suppose to survive the 2nd Death Star run (die in fireball, actually) in RotJ. Somehow, George Lucas changed his mind at the final script each time and saved Wedge. Can anyone say the Star Wars version of Wesley from Princess Bride? Good Night Wedge. Good Work. I'll most likely kill you in the next battle.
love it! The red shirt should at least be glad he didn't have to found Wraith Squadron and pretend to be Lt. Kettch(an ewok pilot made up) in a battle while being razzed by Wes Janson for over three decades!
Wedge, despite being a minor character, survives every single movie. He's actually right there in the final scene. Considering most other fighter pilots in the series have a life-span of twenty seconds OR happen to be main characters, he's an oddity.
Red-Shirts from Star Trek, on the other hand, are doomed to die. All of them. Heck, Scotty died once, and he's one of the main characters. But he was a red-shirt, so he died. He did get better, obviously.
No. I mean just him. Han was on the sanctuary moon and Luke did nothing to destroy the second death star. Wedge was one of only a very few survivors of the first death star attack and its him and the falcon JUST him and the falcon that hit the reactor of the second.
it is Anyones guess what Lucas would make up off the top of his head if asked and claim was cannon the whole time. but as it stands now according to expanded universe it has been stated "Wedge Antilles is the only man to face two death stars and live"
Not according to Wookieepedia, according to that he survives and goes back to his family or some bantha fodder like that, faces it again, and survives. That's just a big frakkin pile of ruttin bantha fodder.
He's actually not related to that guy. I don't remember which one, but M-3PO (a.k.a. Emtrey) says something to the effect of "Wouldn't want you to get killed like that Capt. Antillies guy that you weren't related to" to Wedge in one of the "Star Wars: X-Wing" novels
