-I try to avoid tinkering with the original line work too much for these "remastered" strips, but I absolutely had to resize Snacktray's head because it was MASSIVE in the original comic and it's bugged me for years.
-the "fanboys" in this strip are based off actual customers at the comic shop where I worked at the time (except for the dude on the far left who is "comic book guy" from the simpsons). I could probably write a book of stories about how these guys used to creep out the the female customers (and annoy the bejeezus out of me).
-In the original strip, one of the fanboys asked "Wanna be on Varietease"? Varietease was one of those pay sites where cosplayers, wannabe models, and webcam girls would basically take pictures of themselves in bathtubs for cash. Not sure if it's still around and frankly I don't wanna know. I changed the line to "I defended you on a forum" to poke fun at "white knighting" which might be a little less dated than a reference to a particular site.
-In the late 90s-early 2000's, I used to be a prolific cosplayer in the anime/comic convention circuit. The "Greatest Cosplayer Ever" line was my totally transparent bitterness about being a male cosplayer in a hobby where I'd never get as much recognition as a scantly-clad girl. I gave it up and moved on years ago, but figured I wouldn't try to whitewash my feelings at the time.
-The original comic was done Aug 4 2006. Words, Pencils & Color by Me, Inks by Sarah
