Woops! Almost forgot to post one of these today. As if I haven't put up enough already... X_x

The saga of The Last Mystical Legend of the Fantastic Fantasy Trigger Star continues...

BONUS DIRECTOR'S COMMENTARY

-I discovered to my horror that the linework, colors, and background for this comic somehow got merged together and saved and the original line art was lost. This means I could only do color adjustments and some filling but not give it the full "Redux" treatment. This saddens me because, WOW, do I want to re-render that side panel (Don't use white for highlights, kids!) and replace these backgrounds. The shading in this is pretty sloppy and awful, too. Poop!

The original comic was done October 13 2006. Words, Pencils & Color by Me, Inks by Sarah

I think it's okay if can't make any big change since everything got merged. However, I'm pretty sure you could have gotten rid off the part of the highlight that sticks out off the side panel. Or you just forgot or didn't notice?

I loved B.L.'s design ever since I first stumbled upon your comic.

If you don't mind my asking...

If you don't use white for highlighting, what do you use?

I've been using white for all my pics, I could really use some tips and suggestions ^^;

Depends on the light source that is illuminating the subject. Natural light is hardly ever straight white. The light of the sun or a light bulb, for example, usually has some yellow in it. It all depends on the color of the light as well as the color of the objects the light is reflecting from. Using this comic as an example, since the villain is lit by red lightning those highlights really ought to be a light red or pinkish color.

It's a pretty complicated subject that I wish I could explain better. Check out some books/tutorials on lighting and color theory. It can really take your colors to the next level.
